Ugh. Awful weather today. Apparently it’s a nor’easter.
Speaking of bad weather, how ’bout fog?
Here’s a photo of High Point Monument when there’s slightly less fog obstructing everything:

According to a plaque at the base…
High Point Monument
Height 220 Feet
Base 34 feet square at the platform and 19 feet square where apex begins
The base of the monument is erected on the highest point in the state of New Jersey
Altitude 1803 feet above sea level
Corner stone laid June 8, 1929
1930

Sometimes I get lazy and just post macro shots of fungi.

Oy, if I make the midnight deadline, I will have JUST gotten this out in time.
Nothing informative or even attractive or interesting today— just some lichens on rocks.

This is Lake Marcia at High Point State Park. Um. It’s a lake. Named after someone called Marcia, probably.
The problem with actual usefully informative posts is that they take a long time to write, and sometimes I don’t have a long time readily available.

Since I don’t yet have a neutral density filter, I still need a lot of clouds overhead (and nearby rocks to lay my camera on) to make a nice silky waterfall photo. Sometimes the clouds are in my favor! I love overcast days!

A few weeks ago, I dragged a friend on a road trip to High Point State Park, so we could admire beautiful scenic overlooks available from the highest point in New Jersey.
Probably there are miles and miles of beautiful rolling hills beyond that fog.

SCENIC FAIL.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on New Jersey, you may have heard that we have a nor’easter coming (“Athena,” the first American winter storm to get a name), which is super-awesome because we’re still crippled from Hurricane Sandy, which hit a week and a half ago.
Many hard-hit shore towns have already ordered mandatory RE-evacuations, if there’s a significant enough fear that the damaged infrastructure won’t be able to handle a tough winter storm.
Weather today so far: wintry mix. Unpleasant but tolerable. Hopefully it won’t get worse than this! (It will.)
