This statue in Springfield of a Continental soldier has the distinction of standing on the smallest state park in New Jersey. How cool is that!
…It’s almost the sort of thing they’d make a sitcom episode about!

There used to be a monument in the middle of the intersection of Broadway and Norwood in Long Branch, NJ, that I was told was a “park,” and it was the smallest one in (the country?). It appeared to be about the same size as this statue: about 5′ x 5′ x 8′ high. It was dedicated to a Mr. Chattle, who started the first high school in Long Branch and the surrounding area. Everyone had to drive around it. Eventually , after much discussion,it was removed and put somewhere else to improve the flow of increased traffic. People did not want to loose the status of the smallest park. But they did.
Is this statue in a small park, or is it the entire park?-

This statue is in a 5’x5′ park (it’s just a patch of grass). Since we are being technical, the patch of grass in question is the smallest state park. Because that distinction is made at all, I must presume that there are smaller parks (national, county, private) in existence.
