Damaged log!

I tried to identify the bug that caused all these tubes under the bark of this poor now-dead log, but I can’t figure it out, and I’m getting the heebie-jeebies from my research.

During this research, I just discovered that several species of carpenter ants in southeast Asia…

…can release [the contents of their enlarged mandibular glands] suicidally, rupturing the ant’s body and spraying toxic substance from the head, which gives [them the] name ‘exploding ants.’ The ant has an enormously enlarged mandibular gland, many times the size of a normal ant, which produces the glue. The glue bursts out and entangles and immobilizes all nearby victims. [Wikipedia]

EWW. Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew.

Anyway, if you can identify what insect (larva?) caused all these little paths, please let me know!
