This woman was searching for her dog (Percy) at Short Hills Park.
I really hope she found him.
A visual chronicle of suburban NJ
Juuuuuuust a window in the side of the Short Hills station. I thought it was kind of interesting.
The original Short Hills train station was built in 1880.
It was deeded to the Lackawanna Railroad twelve years later, in 1892 (although Millburn owns it nowadays).
As far as I can tell, the original station was replaced by the current station around 1908.
It’s also home to the Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society!
And here’s a final couple of photos for context, because why the heck not:

The St. Rose of Lima Parish was established in Springfield, NJ in 1852. They all moved to Short Hills, a subset of Millburn, when this church was built in 1909-1912. But back in those days, it was a brick Romanesque church.
Only in 1955 did they renovate it to its current colonial look.
And it’s been that way ever since, I guess.
Modern information about the church can be found on their website [link].
…and if you’re curious about the namesake, apparently St. Rose of Lima was the first Catholic saint of the Americas (as she was born in Lima, Peru). I had this vision of lima beans running through my head, but no, apparently not.

Another view of the Short Hills Mall (formally known as “The Mall at Short Hills.”)
Stores include but are not limited to:
Gucci, Louis Vuitton (as featured yesterday), Dior, Chanel, Dolce & Gabanna, Burberry, Fendi, Michael Kors, Tiffany’s, Cartier, and Bulgari.
Boy, did I feel like a fish out of water when I visited. But I guess some people are into all that.
…also known as the Short Hills Mall. (Short Hills is a subsection of Milburn.) It’s very posh, and it’s a 5-minute drive from New Providence.
…okay, maybe 10 minutes.
