This was the Summit Library from 1891 (more or less) until 1911, when the library went from the hands of the residents to the hands of the city, and relocated a couple blocks away to a bigger building. The building remained abandoned from 1911-1918, when the Summit Dramatic Club (now the Summit Playhouse Association) was founded as a WWI relief effort; the club leased the building from the Library Association for $1/year… until 1967(!), when the defunct Library Association deeded the property to the Playhouse Association.
It appears to be a community/amateur theater, and at the moment, they put on three shows a year.
